for Energy Efficiency & Electrification Upgrades

We'll help you invest in high-efficiency equipment for your business or housing complex.

  • Light Retrofits: 25% of the project cost, up to $7500 per project
  • Deep Retrofits: 25% of the project cost, up to $30,000 per project
  • "Emerging Technology" rebates, up to $30,000 per project (New for 2026!)

We’re proud to offer a variety of energy efficiency and smart electrification rebates to help our members invest in high-efficiency equipment for their businesses and multifamily housing complexes. By helping our members with some of the cost of these upgrades, these incentives may reduce the co-op’s overall energy consumption, lower participants’ energy costs, and encourage members to choose electric options over natural gas, propane, or other fossil fuel alternatives. And all this helps our cooperative and communities reach our clean energy goals.

To qualify:

  • You must be a Holy Cross Energy member in good standing
  • Your equipment must be installed in HCE service territory and be in working orders
  • You must apply for your rebate within 90 days of your invoice date

Things to know before you get started:
  • We can now offer a pre-approval for Commercial or Multifamily Rebates, with a written approval letter upon request
  • By filling out our rebate application, you will also be applying for rebates through our local Energy Smart Colorado nonprofit partners at Walking Mountains and CORE.
  • Your exact rebate amount will be determined after we review your project, based on the criteria below.

Light Energy Retrofit Projects

25% of the project cost up to $7,500/project

Project cost includes eligible project materials + labor (excludes tax, travel, etc.) 

Building Envelope Improvements – air sealing + insulation

  • Must include energy savings estimate upon pre-approval application 

LED Lighting Upgrades

  • Must include annual kWh savings estimate upon pre-approval application 
  • Savings based on old bulb wattage + run time vs. Proposed LED upgrade 

Pumps or Motor Replacement

  • Replace any single-speed pump/motor with variable-speed solution 
  • Must include annual kWh savings upon pre-approval application 
  • Savings based on old motor type + runtime vs. proposed project 

Refrigeration Efficiency Upgrade

  • Must include annual kWh savings upon pre-approval 

Smart Controls – Heat Tape Timers, Commercial BAS for lighting and HVAC

  • Must enroll in Peak Time Payback  
  • Must include annual kWh savings upon pre-approval

Deep Energy Retrofit Projects

25% of the project cost up to $7,500/project

Project cost includes eligible project materials + labor (excludes tax, travel, etc)

  • HVAC upgrades that transition building’s primary heat source from inefficient electric or natural gas heating source to an efficient heat pump, VRF or ground-source heat pump system 
  • HSPF2 must be greater than or equal to 10 
  • HVAC upgrade must be primary heating source able to cover 90% of the winter heating load

  • Replace inefficient electric or natural gas water heating with an efficient heat pump water heater (including split hydronic or combination systems) 

Induction Cooktops

  • Replace any inefficient electric or natural gas cooktops with an induction cooktop

Scalable Multifamily/Commercial Fuel Switch Solutions 

  • Including terminal heat pumps, thermal storage solutions, heat recovery chillers 

Electric Snowmelt Heating Solutions

  • Replacing existing gas boiler systems

Solutions for Small Business  

  • Including patio heating solutions, restaurant solutions, and other small retail solutions 

Flexible Capacity

  • Any aggregated solution that can help shift building loads to off-peak times based on utility alert notifications 

 

New All-Electric Construction: Commercial & Multifamily

25% Rebate of all eligible equipment costs, up to $30,000 per new building
