NOVEMBER 2025 Newsletter

We take care of people — ours and yours.

At Holy Cross Energy, we believe in taking care of people. That means supporting our employees with strong benefits, ongoing training, and being an overall exceptional employer of choice in our region.

We know that when our employees thrive, our members and communities benefit too. Our talented employees come to work every day looking for ways to continuously improve the affordability, reliability, and quality of the services we provide to our members.

Learn more about what makes HCE such a great place to work, from VP of Business Services Trina Zagar-Brown. And be sure to check out our current job openings!

Need a little help with winter heating bills?

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) can help eligible households with winter heating costs. This statewide program provides assistance with home heating expenses from November through April, and applying is quick and confidential.

If you or someone you know could use a hand keeping warm this winter, we’re here to help. Visit our website for a full list of resources with information on how to apply.

Reminders for safely avoiding overhead power lines.

Whether you’re an at-home DIY-er, or part of an official construction crew, it’s important to know the safety essentials when working around overhead power lines:

  • Before starting any job, take the time to look around your work area and find any overhead power lines, poles, or guy wires
  • Always check for lines before raising ladders, tools, scaffolding, or heavy equipment
  • Stay at least 20 feet away from overhead lines
  • If you must complete work that requires you to be closer than the required distance, contact us well in advance to make safety arrangements.

An all-new, all-electric garage for the Town of Avon.

Through our Community Energy Systems program, we are proud to partner on projects that deliver real community benefits, like the Town of Avon’s new all-electric public works garage.

Our support of the facility’s solar and battery energy storage system helps strengthen the grid, support essential community services, and keep energy reliable and affordable for our entire membership.

The best part? The town’s snowplow drivers (a.k.a. the unsung heroes of winter), now have a warm place to park their trucks overnight in preparation for a winter’s worth of dark, cold snowy mornings.

Kudos to all involved on this unique project!
