July 2025 Newsletter

When the winds pick up, so do we. Fast action for fire safety.

As wildfire risk becomes an increasingly urgent concern across our region, we want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to safety at Holy Cross Energy.

From “fast-tripping” system settings, to cutting-edge inspection technologies, we take bold, proactive steps to reduce the risk of wildfire caused by electrical infrastructure.

Now on our website, learn more from Vice President of Operations, Cody O’Neil, about our commitment to keeping our members and communities safe.

Another big new milestone: 96% clean energy in May.

We’re thrilled to be providing more clean energy than ever before for our members—including a new monthly record average of 96% this May.

And we’re even more thrilled to be doing it while keeping our rates low, increasing our system reliability, and maintaining our high safety standards.

This number won’t be as high every month of 2025, especially during hotter summer months and colder winter months when our energy use peaks.

But we still anticipate our clean energy average to land around 85% for the year, a big accomplishment toward our vision of leading the responsible transition to a clean energy future.

"Experiences that I will carry with me throughout my life."

Last month, we sent several local high school students to the annual National Rural Electric  Coopearative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. for a week of:

  • Exploring Washington, D.C.’s monuments and museums
  • Meeting with our state’s congressional delegation
  • Learning how rural electric co-ops operate

Hear more from students Allie Allred (far right) and Reagan Martens (second from right) about what made their experience on Youth Tour so great.

Easier and more accessible EV charging.

Whether you’re a homeowner, a renter, or a business owner, we’ve got an exciting new EV charging program update for you:

  • Charge at Home now includes Wallbox EV Chargers in our list of rebate-eligible equipment
  • Charge at Home – Multifamily now offers incentives for shared EV charging equipment for housing complexes of four+ units
  • Charge at Work now offers incentives for businesses looking to add charging infrastructure, either for fleet EVs, or just for employee benefit!

An all-new, all-electric Center for Communication.

El Jebel-based nonprofit English in Action recently opened its new all-electric educational facility, The Center for Communication. The new building will allow hundreds more community members to acquire English language skills in a warm, welcoming environment.

We proudly supported this new facility through our Community Energy Systems program, which awards in-kind support for energy-related projects that offer significant community benefits

Our contribution helped fund:

  • Heat pumps for heating and cooling
  • An induction range
  • A heat pump water heater
  • An energy-efficient building envelope

Lots of summer fun ahead!

We’ll be at a bunch of community events this summer to chat with members about our energy programs and services. Here are some highlights—we hope to see you there!

  • Basalt Summer Concert Series – Wednesday, July 16
  • MarbleFest – Saturday, August 9
  • Tacos y Kilovatios in Eagle – Wednesday, August 27
  • Fiesta Americas in Gypsum – Sunday, September 14
