Most people don’t spend much time thinking about their electric service—until it’s not there. And while this summer has brought a few more reminders than usual, we’re proud of the reliability we’ve consistently delivered.
Looking back at 2024, the average member experienced just 57.9 minutes without power, a performance more than six times better than other providers in our region. Members also averaged only 1.25 outages, with electricity available 99.988% of the time.

Cooperation Among Cooperatives is one of the seven guiding principles of all electric cooperatives. Since rural electrification began in the 1930s, electric co-ops have rallied to help one another for help when disaster strikes.
In early August, when the Lee Fire outside of Meeker destroyed miles of electric lines, two HCE line crews spent the week helping White River Electric Association rebuild poles and lines in difficult conditions to bring power back to their community.
It’s been quite the summer in Western Colorado. Thanks to everyone involved in the fire containment and power restoration efforts!

The Powers Art Center in Carbondale recently installed one of the first commercial battery systems in our service territory with utility management capabilities. Paired with the facility’s rooftop solar, the system not only meets 75% of the museum’s energy needs, but also has the ability to dispatch stored energy onto the grid to reduce peak-demand strain. And that can help keep costs down for our entire membership!
