We sincerely apologize for the major inconvenience caused by the extended outage on July 7-8, 2026, and thank you for your patience as we worked to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
June 8, 2026
To our members in the Eagle Valley,
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during last night’s extended power outage. We know how disruptive it is to lose power for that long, especially without warning, and we’re truly grateful for the grace you showed us. This was an unprecedented outage in terms of both scope and duration, and we don’t take your patience for granted.
The outage was caused by a lightning strike that damaged equipment on the Xcel Energy transmission lines that bring wholesale power into the valley. Xcel crews worked throughout the night, in difficult and remote terrain, to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
We also want to sincerely apologize for the premature power restoration emails and text notifications some of you received last night. The complex nature of this outage caused errors within our automated notification system, and we understand how frustrating and confusing that must have been on top of an already stressful night. We are working closely with our software provider to correct these errors so this doesn’t happen again.
Again, please accept our sincere apologies. We recognize this was a real inconvenience, and we appreciate your continued trust in us. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With gratitude,
Jenna Weatherred
Vice President, Member and Community Relations
