Enhanced metering is a proven, cost effective and safe two-way meter reading system using Landis and Gyr (L&G) “Gridstream Solutions” technology.
Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits homeowners or businesses for electricity added to the HCE grid from a renewable generator, such as solar panels. The net meter can only measure electricity that flows across it, either into your home or back to the grid. Without a production meter, HCE does not know how much power your generator produced, only how much flowed back to the HCE grid.
In an effort to reduce the need for electricians to access Holy Cross Energy’s transformers, HCE has adopted the use of secondary junction boxes on our system. When building a temporary, new or upgraded service to a pad mounted transformer, please contact our Engineering Department before you begin work. This will allow the Engineering Department to determine if a secondary box will be utilized and if so where it shall be placed. The boxes will be supplied by HCE and are available for pick-up at our Glenwood Springs and Eagle-Vail office locations. Owner provided boxes will not be accepted. Any change in the specified location must be approved by HCE Engineering Department. Failure to gain approval may result in the need for the box to be relocated at the owner’s expense.
