Understanding where you use electricity is a great first step toward managing your energy costs. Some new tools in SmartHub can help you see which appliances and systems may be using the most energy in your home.
By better understanding your energy use, you can:
Spot opportunities to reduce energy waste
Adjust habits that may be increasing your electricity use
Identify older or less efficient appliances
Track how changes in your home affect energy use over time
While these tools won’t reduce your bill on their own, they can help you make informed decisions that may lead to energy savings.
TIP! For the most accurate results, complete the “Build Your Home Profile” survey to help ensure the accuracy of the data in your Energy Detail / Breakdown sections.
As we start to fire up our heat for the season, many of us know that higher electric usage and higher bills are on the way.
Since this is the first winter under our new demand-based rate structure, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of when we use electricity. Simple habits, like staggering the use of large appliances instead of running them all at once, can help lower your demand and may even save you a few bucks each month if you make it a consistent habit.

DOE visits HCE
We welcomed the U.S. Department of Energy’s Assistant Secretary for Electricity, Katie Jereza, to Holy Cross Energy last week. During her visit, she got a firsthand look at the progress we’re making on the WARN wildfire resilience project and the Pitkin County Microgrid Battery project, both of which are helping build a more resilient energy future for our communities. Keeping Your Rates Affordable
According to the latest statewide rate comparison survey from the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities, Holy Cross Energy continues to rank among the lowest third of electric utilities in Colorado. Even as costs continue to rise across the industry, we’re working hard to achieve our goal of keeping rates as affordable as possible while delivering reliable service for our members.
