Holy Cross Energy announces 2026 election results

Glenwood Springs, CO, June 12, 2026 – Local rural electric cooperative Holy Cross Energy (HCE) held its annual meeting and Board of Directors election on June 11 at 4 Eagle Ranch in Wolcott, Colorado. Five candidates ran for two seats in the cooperative’s Northern and Southern Districts.

HCE Directors are responsible for setting the cooperative’s strategic direction. They are required to represent the HCE membership on a fair and impartial basis in the best interest of all members. Directors make decisions that will benefit today’s membership while also planning to meet the future needs of the communities HCE serves.

The Board of Directors consists of seven members elected to four-year terms, representing three geographic districts: the Western District, with one director, the Northern District, with four directors, and the Southern District, with two directors.

With 4,496 ballots cast, Sarah Smith Hymes has been elected to represent the Northern District and Dave Munk has been re-elected to represent the Southern District.

Total Valid Ballots 4,275

Dave Munk has served on the HCE Board of Directors since 2010.

“During my service, I have led Board efforts to create our first energy efficiency goals and pushed for expanded communications and member engagement. I was a leading voice to establish Energy Assistance as a strategic goal, and the HCE staff enthusiastically launched programming to help members who struggle with their bills. Despite low rates, member bills can be stressfully high. Advanced energy efficiency and innovative financing programs are effective resources to empower our dedicated staff to make a meaningful difference in members’ lives,” Mr. Munk said as part of his candidacy.

Sarah Smith-Hymes is new to the Holy Cross Energy Board of Directors, replacing incumbent Adam Quinton, who did not seek re-election. Ms. Smith-Hymes has lived in the Eagle River Valley for 36 years.

“I will contribute many lessons learned on leadership, policy, strategic planning and financial management from service to the Town of Avon and on the boards of our local water/wastewater utility, local and statewide climate action organizations, and the Eagle County Charter Academy. I will contribute the practical perspective gained through years of self-employment in business and boots-on-the-ground volunteering. Most importantly, I will bring my conviction that we owe our families, the environment, and our livelihoods the healthy, sustainable future that clean energy can deliver,” Ms. Smith-Hymes said in her candidate materials.

Holy Cross Energy would also like to recognize departing Director Adam Quinton for his service to HCE and its members.
