Pitkin County BOCC votes to unanimously approve Pitkin County Solar project

In a November 13 meeting of the Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners, the commissioners voted to unanimously support the Pitkin County Solar Project. The project, a joint effort from Aspen Consolidated Sanitation District, Renewable Energy Systems (RES), a Broomfield, CO-based solar developer, and Holy Cross Energy, was brought forth in direct response to strong community demand for local renewable energy. The project supports our commitment to providing reliable, affordable, clean power to our members and communities and will also allow Aspen Sanitation to fulfill its financial and environmental goals.

The project is expected to produce 5 megawatts of energy which is enough electricity to power about 900 homes per year and offset an estimated 8,750 metric tons of C02 annually.
