Community Solar

Although memberships in Clean Energy Collective’s Community Solar Arrays are sold out, if an existing member moves out of the qualifying territory or decides to sell their share, participation may become available.

To express interest in potential membership in an existing or future Community Solar Array, please contact our Renewables Team at 970-947-5473 or

As one of the first Co-ops to offer community solar in the country, we’re committed to providing clean and reliable solar power to our members. We have seen the transformational power of allowing participating members to own a share of their community’s solar energy without the maintenance or trouble of an individually-owned solar energy solution.

We partnered with the nation’s leader in community solar solutions Clean Energy Collective to build four arrays, with two locations in Rifle and two locations in Carbondale. The success of these arrays has firmly cemented us in our work to create and sustain solar energy solutions for our community. We offer two options for participating in community solar. We hope these options increase the access to this clean energy initiative to more families and individuals conscious about their environmental impact.

Income Qualified Solar Array

This array option was built in cooperation with the Colorado Energy Office and GRID Alternatives and is owned by HCE. It came online in 2016. The 546 solar panels provide an estimated 217.5 MWh of power. One hundred percent of the energy generated by this array helps our participating income qualified members offset up to 75% of their annual electric charges. Currently 44 families receive credit from this array.
