Charlie Almquist
Warehouseperson

Where did you grow up? I grew up in the Vail Valley, mostly Gypsum.

When did you start working for HCE? I started working for HCE in May 2022. I’m the new guy!

What does a typical day look like for you? A typical day can vary based on work orders, outages, or maintenance the lineworkers are doing. To put it in a sentence, the materials crew plays the support function for HCE. We make sure we do what we can, to provide material and support that various departments may need. I’d say that just scratches the surface because there are so many other things going on. The days go by quickly.

What’s the best part of your job? I enjoy the teamwork great co-workers and the service we provide makes HCE an awesome place to work. I also think it is pretty cool to be a small part of making sure our community has power. Very happy to be here.

Is there anything that surprised you about working for an electric co-op that you didn’t know before working here?   I didn’t know how much work goes into providing power to a community. When you don’t work in this industry all you care about is that the power is on. There are a lot of moving parts where we work, and I am truly proud to be here.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love going rafting with my wife Jordan and watching her catch massive river hogs! Would not have it any other way

What is one interesting fact about yourself? I lived in Germany for two years when I was 3 and 4. When I came back to the United States, I could no longer speak English and had to re-learn!
