Preferred Solar Installers

HCE Preferred Solar Installers have completed a vetting process to help ensure our members get expert advice and quality service. Members may still receive HCE’s incentives if they choose to work with an installer not on HCE’s list, however, incentives may be denied to members using installers that violate our policies, programs, or requirements. HCE concerns with some installers have included, but are not limited to, aggressive sales techniques, dishonesty, completion issues, safety code violations, and incomplete follow-up after completion.
Criteria for Preferred Solar Installers:

Our preferred installers must be NABCEP certified professionals The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners® (NABCEP®) is the most respected, well-established, and widely recognized national certification organization for professionals in the field of renewable energy.

In addition, installers must:

  • Have been in business for at least 12 months under the same leadership and corporate name
  • Have received training on HCE’s interconnection policies
  • Assures the project is eligible for HCE incentives
  • Have successfully completed 2 or more projects in our area in the last 12 months
  • Have not received more than 2 written complaints in the last 12 months from HCE’s members; and have no unresolved written correction requests from HCE
  • Have signed our ethics pledge committing them to conduct their business with integrity, honesty and quality, and with environmental, social and financial responsibility
  • Carry contractors’ liability ($1,000,000) insurance
  • Have company logos on company vehicles and workers’ uniforms
  • Provide an HCE Residential Solar Fact Sheet with all proposals
  • Provide an HCE Solar Cost per kWh Disclosure Addendum
