State Approves Xcel Plan To Close Coal-Fired Power Plants

On Monday, the state approved Xcel Energy’s plan to close two coal-fired power plants, which is expected to bring more renewable energy to Colorado. Much of the Roaring Fork Valley gets its electricity from Holy Cross Energy. CEO Bryan Hannegan said it, too, is working on acquiring more renewable energy and some of that will come from Xcel’s plan.
