Holy Cross Energy announces 2025 election results\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Glenwood Springs, CO, June 6, 2025<\/strong>\u2014Local rural electric cooperative Holy Cross Energy (HCE) held its annual meeting and Board of Directors election on June 5 at Buttermilk Mountain Lodge. Three candidates ran for one seat in the cooperative\u2019s Southern District, and two candidates ran for one seat in the cooperative\u2019s Northern District.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

HCE Directors are responsible for setting the cooperative’s strategic direction. They are required to represent the HCE membership on a fair and impartial basis in the best interest of all members. Directors make decisions that will benefit today\u2019s membership while also planning to meet the future needs of the communities HCE serves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

The Board of Directors consists of seven members elected to four-year terms, representing three geographic districts: the Western District, with one director, the Northern District, with four directors, and the Southern District, with two directors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

With 4,354 votes cast, Robert Gardner has been elected to represent the Southern District and Kimberly Schlaepfer has been elected to represent the Northern District.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Robert Gardner has served on the HCE Board of Directors since 2012. He is a lifelong resident of Colorado, having attended school in Carbondale and graduating from Colorado State University. He raised his family here and spent most of his working career employed by HCE.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI will continue to dedicate my experience, knowledge, institutional memory, and understanding of Holy Cross\u2019 consumer-members and service territory to cost-competitive rates, reliability, and reaching 100% clean energy,\u201d Mr. Gardner said as part of his candidacy.\u00a0<\/p>

Kimberley Schlaepfer is new to the Holy Cross Energy Board of Directors, replacing incumbent Kristen Bertuglia, who did not seek re-election. Ms. Schlaepfer has lived in the Eagle River Valley for 8 years as an energy and climate planner. She is currently leading the State Energy Code Board in developing sustainable building codes that will impact millions of Coloradoans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cMy focus as a Board member will be to utilize my experience to ensure our electricity remains affordable and reliable as we achieve HCE\u2019s goal of 100% renewable energy by 2030,\u201d Ms. Schlaepfer said in her candidate materials.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Holy Cross Energy would also like to recognize departing Director Kristen Bertuglia for her years of service to HCE and its members.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
